Our No AI / No Algorithm Promise
Kanada Radio will never use AI to decide what music you hear. Not to recommend it, not to generate it, not to guess what you’ll like based on what you’ve done before. Every song here was chosen by a real person who posted it on Bluesky. That is the whole selection process, and it always will be.
What we promise
- No AI picks, ranks, or generates music here. There is no machine learning model anywhere in the path between a person posting a song and you hearing it.
- No recommendation engine. Nothing here is tailored to you. Two different people pressing play on the same station are drawing from the exact same pool, with nothing shaped by who they are.
- No profile of your taste. We don’t build a model of what you like and use it to steer what you hear — not with AI, not with anything else.
- Every track was a human choice. Someone posted it on Bluesky because they wanted people to hear it. Nothing here was ever suggested, remixed, or invented by a machine.
What we actually do, plainly
We’d rather explain the one piece of math on this site than pretend it doesn’t exist. When a station has more candidate tracks than fit in one queue, we sort them using simple, fixed arithmetic: how recently a track was posted, how many different people independently shared it, the votes it’s earned from listeners here, and the likes it already has on Bluesky. That’s it. The formula is the same for every visitor, it never sees who you are, and it never learns or adapts over time. It decides the order among songs real people already chose — it never decides what music exists on this site in the first place.
Shuffle mode weights that same score toward a random draw, so the order is different every time you press play. It is math anyone can read in our source code, not a black box, and it is not AI by any definition of the word.
Why this matters to us
AI will never replace human taste. A model can tell you what’s statistically popular. It cannot tell you why a song someone posted at 2am hit different, or why a stranger’s three-word caption on a track made you actually click play. That instinct — a real person deciding a song is worth sharing — is the entire reason Kanada Radio exists. We’re not interested in automating it away.
If this ever changes
This page is written against what the code actually does. If we ever introduce AI or personalised recommendations anywhere in how music is chosen, this page will say so plainly and the promise above will come off the site rather than sit here being untrue.
