What the helly?!
Fair question. Kanada Radio is a music station where every single track was chosen by a person — not an algorithm, not a label, not a playlist someone uploaded in 2019 and forgot about.
Right now there are 57,148 tracks in rotation, put there by 4,794 people posting music on Bluesky. When they post, it turns up here. That is the whole machine.
Why that is actually different
A station is a question, not a playlist
A playlist is a fixed list somebody made once. A Kanada Radio station is a standing question asked of the whole network — “what is anyone posting under #musicsky right now?” — and the queue is whatever the answer happens to be. Come back tomorrow and it is different music, because different people posted.
Three real orderings. Shuffle is the default, so it opens differently every time.
Nobody can buy their way in
The strongest signal here is how many different people posted the same song. One account cannot fake that, and no amount of money moves it. We sell advertising, clearly labelled, in its own box — never inside the music.
It is genuinely free, and it does not watch you
No account needed. No tracking, no profile building, no data sold. Signing in with Bluesky is optional and only adds things that are yours: favourites, votes, and one-click sharing.
We wrote our own analytics rather than break that promise
Here is a decision most sites make quietly and we would rather make out loud. We sell the advertising that pays for this, and an advertiser reasonably wants to know how many people show up. The normal answer is to paste in Google Analytics, which takes about four minutes.
Doing that would have handed every visitor to Google, set cookies on your machine, required one of those consent pop-ups, and made the promise at the top of this page a lie. So we built our own instead.
Counting happens on our own server, and stops at counting.
To count you once a day instead of five times, we make a one-way fingerprint out of your address and browser, and throw the address away. The recipe changes at midnight, so today’s records cannot be joined to yesterday’s by us, or by anyone who ever got hold of the database.
What that buys us is the ability to say “four hundred people came on Tuesday”. What it costs us is the ability to say anything at all about who any of them were, or whether one of them came back. We need the first number. We have no use for the second, and no business holding it.

- See what is actually popular on the Most played chart — ranked by real listens, not by an algorithm’s opinion.
- Change how it looks. Six skins, including a neon one and a car dashboard. The whole site changes, banner and all.
- Follow the humans. Every track credits whoever shared it, and you can follow them on Bluesky without leaving the player.
- Save what you like and come back to it.

The honest bits
Videos play through YouTube, so YouTube’s ads apply and we are not allowed to skip them. Apps that try get cut off. In practice you will not hear many, because most of what people post is fan uploads and small channels that carry no advertising at all. It is YouTube’s call on every video rather than ours — but we have not had a single report of one yet 🙂
The visualizer moves with the track, not with the sound. To make it follow the actual music we would have to ask your browser for permission to listen in on your machine — the same sort of prompt a microphone needs — and that is just plain creepy in exchange for a row of bouncing bars. So we opted out. Pick whichever of the styles you like; it is decoration, and it is honest about being decoration. No spying, ever, from our stuff 👂
We are early. Some stations are quiet on a slow day, and some tracks turn out to be unplayable — those get detected and dropped automatically.
